Moffat Teases Christmas Special

"Tease" may well be the operative word, since Moff is a bit of a trickster, and "open, upfront and honest" is hardly his style (which is a good thing, I think - it keeps us guessing).

Our confusion and speculation feeds him...

But the showrunner has been talking the Christmas Special in the latest issue of DWM, and in five short sentences manages to get more buzz and excitement going than a dozen filming pics ever could.

“Oh, never mind the TARDIS blowing up, what about the endless, bitter war Kovarian was on about? And what’s Trenzalore? And the oldest question in the universe? And what exactly do they mean, silence will fall? Anyway, I’m off to a readthrough…”

It's unclear whether Moffat is actually saying that these are things that will be addressed in Matt Smith's final episode, or whether he's making a sarcastic comment about the fans that demand that he explicitly explain thangs that have (probably) already been explained. But I really hope that these are all mentioned, no matter how obliquely: the Kovarian/Silence arc has really been the main driving force behind Eleven's era. Isn't it fitting that they're there at the end, for the Fall Of The Eleventh?

If the Christmas Special isn't called "Silent Night", I'll eat Four's scarf.

Nothing says "Christmas" quite like freaked-out terrorscreams...

The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine is out now.
