First Filming Pics From Doctor Who Christmas Special Are In. Filming Pics Are Cool.

Production began on the as-yet-untitled Christmas special on Sunday, and now, thanks to Twitter's Ryan Thomas-Farrel (@ryantfarr), we have some filming pictures to report.

There's nothing really exciting going on here, but we do get our first glimpse of Matt's wig. The actor famously shaved his head for his role in the upcoming Ryan Gosling-helmed flick How To Catch A Monster, but in these photos his hair looks reassuringly similar to his now-trademark bouffant.

The Christmas special - Matt's last as the Eleventh Doctor, also starring Jenna Coleman, and featuring the return of the Cybermen - is expected to air Christmas Day 2013. But of course, before that there's the small matter of the 50th anniversary special, which airs on BBC One, and in 3D in select cinemas, on November 23rd.
